The Core

Not to be
A know-it-all
And not to
Say it smugly
But what it is
That I might say
Might turn out
To be ugly.

You see, I've tried
For years & years
To see things
Through your eyes
And, I've held back
A million tears
When it was
Best to cry.

I can't pretend
to not foresee
A dark and
Bitter end
And what's more,
Burns to the core,
Is that
I call you friend.
