Snow on the garden...
In the background you can see a bit of the Majestic California Bay Laurel that stands guard and shelters the back half of my Garden Space with Springtime Shade. Bay is a Fire Element Herb.. which is awesome because it's situated overlooking the Southern Quarter. It is hundreds of years old and has a trunk so big, two people couldn't hug it and touch their fingers together!!! Bay is used for Healing, Protection, Purification, Strength, Clairvoyance.
~The Return of Life~

~March 2002~
The Daffodils are popping up all around the Frog Pond, in between every crack in the Rock Garden. The frogs are quite content to live is such a beautiful space! Daffodils are also a Water Element Herb (appropriate for being around a pond) and are used in rituals involving Love, Fertility and Luck.

A majestic California Bay Laurel stands in the Southeast Quarter and shades the pond in the late afternoon. The Frog Pond's rock border was collected by Ryan and myself and Ryan maneuvered the 600 pound Alter-stone into place with a crowbar and blocks of fire wood. There are 8 Herb Beds laid out in a Wheel Pattern surrounding the Frog Pond. Each Quarter (North, East, South, & West) has 2 Beds. The Beds for each Quarter flank a Path that runs around the Frog Pond and splits off in each of the 4 Directions. Each Plot and it's corresponding Directional Path was to be filled with Herbs and Herbal Flowers that correspond to the Element of the Direction. The 2 Northern plots would have Earth Herbs, the 2 Eastern Plots would have Air Herbs, the 2 Southern Plots would contain Fire Herbs, and the 2 Western Plots would house Water Herbs. Sound like a huge undertaking? It was! This Garden had been in the works for 3 years running. It took one year to establish the Pond, another year to plant around the pond, and the third year to lay out the brick plot outlines and set the fence. I got one of these 2 Western Plots (the Left Western Plot)in in Spring 2002. Unfortunately this is where with project ends for now!
