Lupine, I thought it would be more apropriate to move our discusion from the 'Introduction: Who's here' topic to a topic of it's own and leave the introduction board to be an introduction board.

As to what I do, well, I try to help people, I do quite a lot with healing. But mostly I just seek knowledge and an understanding of the world around us. What that has to do with necromancy in specific, not much I guess, I could have stayed a wiccan or a druid, but this just feels better, more me. But I have attempted (and on several occasions suceeded in) comunication with spirits and I incorporate death in healing, only if you acknowledge death, can you truly live, that's how a friend of mine (who persuaded me into necromancy) explaiend it and I agree with him. He deals with death a lot more then I do, but he doesn't raise any corpses either, he tends to reason that the world is crowded enough as it is

For me necromancy is just a path in magic, a filosofy and an aproach to life just like wicca or any other form of paganism might be to you.

You were a Druid Deathmage. That is interesting. How long did you study Druidism? If you did that is. lol

I was, and partialy still am, a druid about 2 years ago. I think it's a good combination, the forces of life in balance with the forces of death.

I like that, it makes sense!
How do you incorporate death in healing?

I think that philosiphy is unfairly credited in many paths. sure we ackowledge life and it "stuff", but no one really seems to recognize death. I praise you for doing so. Death is merely another part of the ever-goign cycle.

ah; divination & healing. So what system do you use for your healing? And I agree, people do seems to look at death with a big dose of fear. which is strange, all things considered. So you stop breathing. Big deal.

I usually use a lot of visualisation in healing and for that visualisation I try to get as much information on a oparticular illness as possible. If you know how a disease works, it's easier to fight it. Furthermore I use herbs and insence, sometimes oils. But most of the time I'm not present with the subject though. Only few people know about my magic and I try to help them at a distance where possible.

icon Q's about Necromancy

Does anyone have a good informational site on necromancy? Can a necromancer really go into someone's body, fight their spirit, and lock it up in some object? Can bad necromancers really take a locked spirit and put it into an artificial body? Or a body of mixed, living human parts? Did I jsut run into a crazy website? Just curious!

ehhhh... I have been practicing necromancy for a few years and I have read the most strange, horrible and creapy things, but never actually seen or heard anyone who's actually done those things.
Well, necromancy is about spirits and, theoretically, I think if someone would bend their will to it, they could eventually learn to do those things you describe.

Hmm, it does seem necromancy is getting more popular, I was searching for a good site I found 2 years ago on avatarsearch, back then typing 'necromancy' gave 7 hits.. now it's triple that. So I have some things to read then...

Necromancy is often seen as evil magic. For one thing there is no such thing as evil magic, for magic is good nor evil, it's how you use it. Secondly necromancy is just the magic of the dead, many people fear death, but that doesn't make it evil. The ancient egyptians practiced necromancy, for them it was mainly a form of divination. I haven't killed anyone (so far) nor tried to magicaly harm them and that's not what necromancy is about. I try to find a natural balance between life and death and incorporate that in my magic. Morality and karma aplies to us all...

I hope this answers your questions and if you endevour on the path of necromancy, try not to get too much entranced by the thoughts of undead...

icon I'm in the need of some help.

The help I seek is in reference to the Book Of The Mad Arab, Book Of Dead Names, Necronomican, etc etc.
A few years ago I made the mistake of delving into this peice of literature.
I need to learn as much as I can about it, as it poses a threat to myself and my loved ones, even though I have long distanced myself from it.
So i ask you all- what can you tell me about it and it's nature?
Secondly, I was of the understanding that the book tended to tempt those who read it into doing its own work, and then (if you will excuse my language) screwing them over. From personal experiences I have witnessed friends go through, it appeared to me that this worked best when the person had a perchant for the dark side. (Correct me if i am wrong)
At the time of my life when I came across this book, I was very open to dark influence. Yet twice it attacked me and tried to hurt me to stop me from continuing along the raod i was traversing.
Thus, the second thing i want to know is- why would that thing want to get rid of me, when it could have easily manipulated me into being its tool?

Let me finish by saying that I understand that what I am going to ask you as a whole edges onto very very dangerous territory. But I have reason to beleive that I am in danger, and owing to my lack of knowledge in these areas, am seeking help from the wiser. You.
I greatly appreciate any help you can offer me on either question. Email me if you don't wish to post your reply.
Thank you.

Wait.. you actually got your hands on the real thing? hmm, at least this should be the board to come to, we have 2 Necromancers in our midst now. But as to the book, well I never did too much reseacrh into it, I loved Lovecrafts books, but they are mere fiction. Lovecraft claimed the book was real though.
You seem to think this book has a will of it's own, but it doesn't. It's temptation lays in the power it offers. You said it attacked you, what did it do? And are you sure it was from the book? I might believe that someone or something tried to scare you away from it as to protect you from it's influence...

Maybe Necro knows more on this subject, for me it has never been an option, I don't want too much power, I just like simplicity.

Good luck and may a good spirit protect you..
