My folks
finally gave in and allowed me to get my
ears pierced for the first time when I was ten.
I have been adding to my
ear piercings ever since.
I got my first tattoo
at the age of 18. My
mom took me, so I felt safe. Unfortunately,
even then, the right questions were not asked,
and I ended up with a crappy,
scarred tattoo. But,
I was an adult, and it was my first, so I still love it.
Since then I have
gotten two more tattoos and
three non-ear piercings; my
nostril, tongue, lip, and 2 on my torso... guess what
those are.... The
more tattoos I get, the larger, and more expensive they
get.
I have my next 3 tattoos
planned out and many
more kicking around in my subconscious. And
piercings, well, the most recent were not the last, by
any means.
You see, for me, it is art, my own creating of self.
I consider the techniques
used in tattoo and piercing to
be primal, instinctual, and spiritual. When
I get tattooed, I enter a trance, and come away completely
transformed. It's
like a connection to the past, with movement toward my
future. It is definitely
not for everyone.
And yes, it does hurt.
